Description
CERT’s Front Counter Safety Training course is a one-day course specifically designed for those who interact with the public in a reception or front counter area. This course will teach you knowledge and practical skills to enable you to safely, effectively and professionally engage with people in your work environment.
Topics covered include assessing potential risk in your work space and understanding what it means to have and maintain a ‘safety mindset’.
You will discuss the Health and Safety at Work Act and your obligation as an employee to keep yourself safe; the importance of professionalism when dealing with people to minimise personal, reputational and organisational risk; and the legalities around self-defence and trespass procedures.
And you will learn some practical skills such effective communication techniques to achieve desired outcomes in your interactions with people; as well as how to position yourself safely when engaging members of the public; how to ensure your work environment minimises potential physical risk; conflict de-escalation skills; and how to remove yourself safely if required.
This course is based on the proven principals taught in CERT’s two-day Situational Safety and Tactical Communications course.
